All Dressed Up — For many people who show poodles, the care and time required to maintain a properly groomed show coat means keeping their dogs inside and away from anything that might interfere with the full luxury of all that hair. For both Danté and Bé (at right, still being shown at 10 months), we made a conscious decision that neither of them should have to sacrifice their freedom or the instincts that make a young dog want to play in order to live as a slave to the grooming table (though we paid for it in the time it took to pick twigs, grass, and other backyard debris out of them each and every day).
